Sally Manning studied painting at Chelsea College of Art where she began to explore both the figure and landscape. Her methodology is to make a study of a person or landscape in the classical line then to rework it by either abstracting or fragmenting it. Her strong sense of colour comes into play with blocks and shapes that seem like musical notes giving voice to her inner expression.

During her MA at Wimbledon School of Art she experimented with animation using William Kentridge’s erasure and redrawing techniques - some of her films are listed in the British Council's film directory.

Sally lives in Devon in the countryside with her family. She finds the rural North Devon landscape convivial to her work.
